I am blessed to have been raised in a Christian home with parents that set the example of what it means to be a true follower of Jesus. Having faithfully attended church for as long as I can remember, it’s hard for me to identify a specific moment in time when I my Christian walk began. It was during junior high camp at Hume Lake that I think I fully grasped the sin nature that we are born with and the remedy that has been provided for that state by the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was also there that I was captivated by the camp speaker who was a Sergeant for LAPD, Bob Vernon. He loved God and loved to serve the community, and I believe it is because of that example that I ultimately chose the same career path, retiring from full-time service in 2013.
I met my wife Allison at church in 1983 shortly after she moved here from Mississippi to work for Focus on the Family in Arcadia. We began dating in 1985 after being involved in Bible study groups and Sunday School class together and were married in 1986. The first of our three sons came along in 1987. All of our sons are married with children, and we have five grandchildren in all (so far!).
Allison and I began attending Foothill Church in 2016 and have been blessed to get to know so many wonderful people through Growth Groups, classes, and serving opportunities. We love the church’s commitment to the Gospel, to spiritual growth for all no matter your age or spiritual experience, and desire to have an impact in our local community and beyond. I pray that God continues to give Foothill Church wisdom and guidance as we seek Him diligently and seek to make His name known to our community and beyond.
