My family immigrated to the United States from the Philippines in 1980. We spent a few years in Texas before permanently moving to Southern California. In 1988 I saw the changes in my brother after he accepted Jesus as his savior. I followed right behind him and during one youth group meeting, I prayed to have Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Since then, I have been humbled and have grown by Jesus’ leading, the truth and power of scripture and the love of the church.
I met my wife, Wennie, at UC Irvine at a campus fellowship group. We dated for 5-years and were married in 1996. We are parents to Joshua and Abbey. Joshua and his wife, Kristin, work and live in Orange County. Abbey is pursuing a career in teaching. I am thankful that God has “engraved” them in His hands and that they belong to Him.
In 1994 I began my career locally in public safety and it has been a blessing to work there for almost three decades. During this time, in my personal and professional life I have experienced and seen God’s sovereignty and how He forgives, leads and restores people and relationships. I am certain and believe this, “…that you (God) can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted” (Job 42:2). This reassures me that nothing escapes God.
It was our daughter who introduced us to Foothill Church and this brought us into a difficult season of making the decision to leave our longtime church. We prayed, sought out advice, met with friends and shed tears before making our decision. Once here, our family’s priority was to get into the life of Foothill. This happened through serving, attending classes, Growth Groups and conversations around meals with new friends.
My hope for Foothill Church is that we will be a people who live with joy and fully live this life reflecting Jesus Christ.
