Job Description

As we continue to grow, we need qualified people who want to work in a growing, vibrant, and fast-paced church to help with the duties in the specific department as well as the Church ministry as a whole.

Role Summary

The Graphic Designer at Foothill Church plays a key role in visually communicating the mission and message of the church. This position involves creating high-quality designs that support weekly services, sermon series, social media, and various ministry initiatives. The designer collaborates with the Communications Minister and other staff to ensure that all designs align with the church’s branding and effectively engage the congregation and community.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality graphics that reflect Foothill Church’s brand and mission.
  • Design visual elements for services, including slides, signage, handouts, and digital assets.
  • Develop sermon series graphics that engage the congregation and reinforce key themes.
  • Collaborate with ministry teams to understand design needs and deliver creative solutions.
  • Create social media visuals that complement content strategies and boost engagement.
  • Assist the Communications Minister in creative and special projects, providing fresh design ideas.
  • Maintain brand consistency and quality across all visual assets.
  • Use AI-assisted tools responsibly to enhance efficiency while preserving originality.
  • Occasionally assist with photography and videography needs to support digital and print media.

Knowledge, Skills, and Demands

Knowledge

  • Understand brand consistency and visual identity principles.
  • Knowledge of print production and digital media practices.
  • Familiar with photo and video editing and motion graphics is a plus.
  • Aware of current design trends and church communication strategies.
  • Aware of ethical, legal, and effective uses of AI tools (e.g., Adobe Firefly, ChatGPT) in the creative process.

Skills

  • Strong typography, layout, and composition skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Photography and photo editing.
  • Strong attention to grammar, spelling, and proofreading to ensure all designs and communications are error-free and professionally presented.

  • Work collaboratively with the Communications Minister, ministry leaders, and staff to understand design needs and execute creative solutions.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with various ministries to ensure consistent branding and effective communication.

  • Support and contribute to a healthy team culture by participating in creative discussions, problem-solving, and brainstorming.

Physical Demands

  • Lift up to 25 pounds (for occasional event setup, print materials, etc.).

  • See full color spectrum.

Environment

  • In-office work.
  • Maintain safe and clean work conditions in the areas assigned.
  • Work in an open office environment with coworkers around.

Technologies

  • Proficient in Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
  • Use Google cloud based apps (Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.) and/or Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with, or an understanding of, ethical, legal, and effective uses of AI software/programs (Firefly, ChatGPT, etc.).
  • Apple Mac and macOS.
Reporting
  • Report directly to the Communications Minister.
  • Amenable to the Chief of Staff.

Other Details (Pay, Compensation, Schedule, etc.)

Position Type:

  • Full Time.
  • Regular.
  • Non-Exempt. 
  • Administrative/Professional.

Schedule:  Monday-Friday (occasionally available for Sundays or other special events).

Base Hours: 40 hours per week.

Pay: $23 – $25 an hour.
