FAQs

What is FTSOHN?

It stands for “for the sake of His Name.” It comes from Romans 1:5-6. FTSOHN is a 2-year, all-church, discipleship journey that we started in October 2024. It has 2 main goals: (1) that 100% of our church would ask, “What would it look like to live my whole life in obedience to Christ, for the sake of His Name?” and (2) that 100% of Foothill Church would contribute financially to help raise $8 million (increased from $7 million) to help accomplish our goals of growing, reaching and building. You can find out more at foothill.church/FTSOHN.

Is this a building campaign?

No. We aren’t building anything…except people! Foothill Church exists to “live as disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus.” And a disciple is someone who lives their whole life in obedience to Christ, for the sake of His Name.

Is this a giving campaign?

No, it’s a discipleship journey that impacts every part of our lives and giving is just one of the ways we live FTSOHN.

How do I get involved in the FTSOHN discipleship journey?

Simply start by asking the Lord, “What would it look like to live my whole life in obedience to Christ, for the sake of His Name?” And then listen to what He says. There are dozens of opportunities for you to put feet to a prayer like that. Go to foothill.church/FTSOHN to find out more.

Second, realize that one of the most tangible ways we live in obedience to Christ is by putting Him first in our finances. Jesus doesn’t need your money but He wants your heart. But if Jesus doesn’t have your money, He doesn’t have your heart. And so we invite you to join us in reaching our goal of raising $8M over the 2 years of our discipleship journey. You can make a commitment for the final year of our journey on Sunday, November 2nd.

I’m ready to make a financial commitment. What do I do?

Praise God for His grace in your life! You can make a commitment on Commitment Sunday, November 2, 2025. We will fill out our commitments together as part of the service. Some people will reaffirm the commitment they made in 2024. Others will increase. And others will join for the first time. All of that will happen on Commitment Sunday.

I want to live FTSOHN by serving or helping advance one or more of the gospel-centered initiatives we’ve identified . What can I do?

Check out the many opportunities to join a serve team at foothill.church/serve.

I know what I want to commit. Can I turn in my commitment card early?

We would appreciate it if you would hold off until Commitment Sunday (November 2nd, 2025) when we all make our commitments together. It’s not only a corporate act of worship and faith, it’s also helpful for our finance team.

What if I won’t be here on Commitment Sunday. How do I turn in my card?

We will hold commitments open for a couple of weeks. You can drop it into the offering bucket any Sunday after Commitment Sunday.

I made a commitment last year but the amount is wrong in the Church Center app. What should I do?

Please send an email to give@foothill.church or call Jon White at (626) 629-3217 and we will get it corrected.

I made a commitment last year, but I don’t remember what it was. Where can I find my commitment total and status?

Once you’ve downloaded the Church Center app and set up your profile, you can select “My Profile”, scroll down to “My Giving” and click on “Pledges.” Your commitment has been divided between Year 1 and Year 2. If you need further assistance, send an email to give@foothill.church or call Jon White at (626) 629-3217.

What if I want to combine my commitment and my spouse's commitment?

Please send an email to give@foothill.church or call Jon White at (626) 629-3217 and we’ll make it happen!

I made a commitment last year and want to increase the amount. Do I need to change my recurring giving online?

If you’ve set up recurring giving and are modifying the amount then you will need to change it. If your giving will stay the same you don’t need to change anything.

I looked in my Church Center app and it shows two different totals for each year. Why is that?

If you selected to increase your original commitment, the commitment under Year #2 will reflect that increase.

I made a commitment last year and want to continue with that same commitment. Do I need to fill out another card on Commitment Sunday?

Yes, please! Filling out a new commitment card helps us know we can count on you for the second half of our journey together.

When will we find out how much we’ve received in commitments for the final year of the journey?

We will announce the total projected giving based on commitments on Stay Strong Sunday: December 7, 2025. You don’t want to miss it!

Will there be periodic updates on the goals we’ve set for the next 12 months?

Yes!

What if I want to give to a specific area of ministry, ie, church planting, kids, youth?

We use a “One Fund” approach to our giving. Since everything we do is moving toward one mission, then all giving will go toward that mission. Every contribution will be a contribution to the “One Fund”. Church planting, kids and youth are all supported by your giving to One Fund.

When will giving toward Year 2 of the discipleship journey begin?

Any giving on or after December 1, 2025 will be counted toward your Year 2 commitment.

How does $8 million over 2 years ($4 million/year) compare to our normal giving/budget?

Our operating budget for 2025–2026 is around $3.5 million. The excess $500,000 will be used to fund remodeling projects for kids, college students and young adults. A portion will also be set aside to help us purchase adjacent homes as we hope to expand our campus someday.
