Paul confronts the deeply ingrained belief that we must contribute to our salvation by showing through Abraham and David that no one is justified by works but only by God’s grace through faith. Both the righteous and the broken are saved by trusting in Christ, whose righteousness is credited to us and whose grace removes our sin.
