Kids Weekly for K–5th
Hey Parents! We are so glad your kiddo joined us this weekend in Foothill Kids. Our Bible Truth for this Sunday was “As Followers of Jesus, we love because God first loved us.” We looked at 1 John 4: 7-19 and reviewed the scripture we memorized through the Love of God rap.
Here are a few questions for you to discuss with your kiddo:
QUESTION 1: John calls his readers “beloved”. What does “beloved” mean? Who is God’s beloved? Beloved means “those who are loved”. Beloved are those who have put their trust in Jesus.
QUESTION 2: 1 John 4:10 says that God the Father “sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins” How is Jesus the propitiation for our sin? Propitiation simply means payment. Because we are sinners, a payment or sacrifice had to be made to turn away God’s wrath. When Jesus died on the cross, his sacrifice was the “propitiation” made for our sin.
QUESTION 3: John uses the word “abide” six times in this passage. What does the word “abide” mean? How does God abide in us? How do we abide in God? Abide means to “dwell”. God abides in the hearts of his people through the Holy Spirit. We abide in God by the love he has given us for Him and show His love to others. 1 John 4:19, “We love because he first loved us”.
