WORSHIP

Foothill Worship desires to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus, rooted in the gospel.

We strive to glorify God in all that we do with the gifts and talents that we have been given. Our band, vocals, and tech team deeply value the art of crafting a beautiful service with distraction free worship that ultimately points to Creator rather than the created.

CORE VALUES

Early is Everything

Everything we do is affected by our start time. Our start affects our unity together, which affects our rehearsal, our rehearsal affects our worship, our worship affects the church. Being early is not a personality trait, it’s about honoring the Lord, our team and our church. We choose to start well.

Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3 (NLT)

We Care About People, Not Position

It’s not about where we serve, it’s about who we serve. The point of the church is not to nurture your talent, it’s to nurture our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Since all of our positions point to and help facilitate that effort, they all carry great value and glorify God.

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Philippians 2:3 (NLT)

We Expect Feedback

Feedback at Foothill isn’t just reactive, it’s a part of our culture. From coaching, team huddles and team training, we actively give and receive feedback. Encouraging feedback raises self-awareness, which fosters personal growth and sharpens skills. Avoiding feedback protects fear, sustains insecurities and dulls our development. On the other side, we won’t be moved from our values to vanity or overconfidence by positive feedback or flowery language.

The ear that listens to life-giving reproof, will dwell among the wise. Whoever ignores instruction despises himself, but he who listens to reproof gains intelligence. Proverbs 15:31-32 (ESV)

Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy. Proverbs 27:6 (ESV)

Preparation Frees Us

Preparation frees us to worship in heart and mind while we serve. Preparation frees us to appropriately respond to the movements of the Holy Spirit in the service. Preparation frees us to engage and care for the people of the church. The lack of preparation binds our heart and mind to practicality, putting us in danger of quenching the Spirit.

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. Colossians 3:23 (ESV)

Whatever you find to do with your hands, do it with all your might. Ecclesiastes 9:10a (ESV)

We Do Development

Our best contribution in a service flows out of our commitment to our own development. In order for our worship to develop in the church, we must develop ourselves outside of rehearsals. We don’t simply aspire and hope to develop our skills, we commit to developing our skills.

Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts. Psalm 33:3 (ESV)
