Kids Weekly for K–5th

Foothill Kids   -

Hey Parents! This weekend in K-5th we continued our summer programs by playing Bible Battles and learned about how Paul and Silas traveled to preach the gospel through the video series “Superbook!” Our Bible Truth for today was God gives us the Holy Spirit to help and direct our path.

Here are a few questions for your ride home:

QUESTION 1: God gave Paul and Silas the Holy Spirit.

    • How did the Holy Spirit direct them? The Holy Spirit told them where to go and who to preach the gospel to.
  • Do you remember the name of the city where Paul and Silas were preaching and baptizing? Philippi
  • Does the name Philippi remind you of a book of the Bible? Philippians
  • How did God use Paul to minister to the Philippians? After Paul’s visit to Philippi, he wrote the believers there a letter—which we call the book of Philippians!

QUESTION 2: After healing a slave girl from an evil spirit, Paul and Silas were put in prison.

  • Why were Paul and Silas put in prison? For preaching the Gospel.
  • What did Paul and Silas do while they were in prison? They prayed and sang hymns to God.

READ Acts 16:25-26, “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened.”

  • How did God rescue Paul and Silas from prison? Through an earthquake!

QUESTION 3: When the jailer woke up and saw that the prison doors were open, he thought they had escaped. The jailer drew his sword to kill himself.

READ Acts 16:28-34,But Paul cried with a loud voice, ‘Do not harm yourself, for we are all here.’ And the jailer called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and said, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ And they said, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.’ And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family. Then he brought them up into his house and set food before them. And he rejoiced along with his entire household that he had believed in God.”

  • How did Paul stop the jailer from hurting himself? He assured them that no one had escaped.
  • How did the jailer respond? He fell down before them and asked what he needed to do to be saved.
  • What happened to the jailer and his household? They all became Followers of Jesus and were baptized!

QUESTION 4: Today we learned that God can use any circumstance to bring salvation to his people.

  • Can you think of someone you’d like to pray for today that needs to be saved?

We have a fun way for the kids to memorize the events of the Bible through this “God’s Big Story” song. Make sure to practice at home!
